LAGOS—Three persons, arrested by Marine Division Police over speed-boat theft, have been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of stealing.
The accused persons, Dami Faro(23), Akinyoye Gbenga Omotere(20) and Samuel Akintoye(25) and others now at large, were alleged to have last month stolen a speed boat valued at N1 million, property of one Tope Ishola.”
The prosecutor, Inspector Peter Nwangwu told the court that the accused persons stole the boat from where it was anchored at Ajegunle waterside, an offence punishable under the Criminal Code.
He said that a complaint was made by the owner of the speed-boat, Tope Ishola, which led to the arrest of the accused persons.
According to the police, the accused persons pleaded guilty to the offence during interrogation but pleaded not guilty to the charge was preferred against them in court.
Trial Magistrate, Mrs. Abegun Davies, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Further hearing of the case was adjourned till November 2, 2011.
