Port Harcourt- Two suspected thieves of cables belonging to Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, were arrested in Woji area of the Rivers State capital.

Public Relations Officer of Borikiri Business Unit of PHCN, Mr. John Onyi, said the suspects were arrested by policemen on patrol and were being prosecuted by the authorities.

Onyi appealed to Port Harcourt residents to safeguard PHCN facilities in their area.

He added that the cable thieves were removing about 24 metres of 500mm single core armoured cable at Elitor 111 500KVA transformer at 1.30am when they were apprehended.

Onyi said PHCN had lost about 400 of its transformers to thieves in the last four years.
