Asaba-Police in Delta State have arrested two suspected notorious kingpins alleged to be behind the various kidnapping incidents in and around Asaba.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Command, Mr. Patrick Ebokah, told our reporter, weekend, in Asaba that the breakthrough followed vigorous intelligence networking.

Ebokah said: “The anti-kidnapping squad arrested the kidnappers from Benin and the suspects confessed to have participated in various kidnapping incidents in Asaba, Ogwashi Uku, Ibusa and environs.

“They (kidnappers) also confessed that they kidnapped one Chief Okobi on August 15, around Federal Road Safety Commission office in Asaba. Items recovered from them include one Mercedes Benz 190, one unregistered L300 white Mitsubishi bus, one unregistered Range Rover car and one military berretta pistol.”

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State had recently said that no fewer than 30 suspected kidnappers were arrested in the state. He named Ibusa as one of the communities where the state was having security challenges.

The governor called on the people not to panic as the government was on top of the situation.
