World Bank provides free prepaid meters for PHCN customers in Nyanya, others

Abuja – The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has concluded arrangements to install prepaid meters for its customers in Nyanya, Karu, Mararaba and Masaka neighbourhoods .

Mrs Jane Okemini, the Business Manager of PHCN in Nyanya, disclosed this on Saturday in Abuja.

She said that the beneficiaries would not have to pay for the meters, as the World Bank was financing the meters’ supply.

Okemini reiterated that the PHCN’s customers in these areas would get the meters free of charge.

She, therefore, advised them not to pay anybody for the meters.

“All our customers within this network would be properly metered on free prepaid meters. So, they would be sure of what they are paying for, as they would pay according to your consumption.’

“These meters are free and I want to use this medium to tell our customers not to give money to anybody who claims that he or she is a PHCN staff,” she said.

Okemini said that the PHCN had started installing prepaid meters for its customers in the Jikwoyi area, noting that the installation of prepaid meters in the areas was to enable all the customers to enjoy the same billing system.

She said that the old “flat rate’’ billing system would be jettisoned as soon as prepaid meters were installed for PHCN customers. (NAN)
