Woman,32, asks court to dissolve 5-year-old marriage

Lagos – Due to irreconcilable differences, a 32-year-old woman, Mrs Linda Omotunde, has asked a Grade B Customary Court, Igando, Lagos, to dissolve her marriage of five years to Olawale Omotunde.

The petitioner alleged that her husband usually beat her and that he was uncaring.

She also accused her husband of not respecting her family, adding that she did not love him anymore.

“The marriage was faulty right from inception. We even fought at our wedding reception.

“I met Olawale on the Internet and we planned our wedding on the `net` before we finally met,” she said.

She also claimed that her husband had on several occasions threatened to poison her.

Olawale, however, denied the allegations and said that he was still in love with his wife.

“Our marriage cannot be broken because we have a special marriage.

“We did our wedding at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which makes it a special marriage,” Olawale said.

The Court President, Mr Adewale Eko, asked the couple to produce three adults each who were aware of their marital issues before the next sitting and advised the couple to go for counselling.

He then adjourned the case to Sept. 29. (NAN)
