LAGOS – Controller of Prisons, in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics, Prison Headquarters, Abuja, Dr Ifediorah Orakwe, yesterday, blamed the problems of the prisons in the country on corruption.
Speaking at a two-day stakeholders’ session on Implementing Prison Reform Recommendations in Nigeria, organised by the African Union Commissioner and Special Rapporteur on Prisons, Mrs. Dupe Atoki in Lagos, Orakwe said the much- desired reforms in prisons would be a mirage until the view of persons involve in prisons management were sought on the problems confronting the sector.
