Lagos – The Deputy Director, Public Affairs, West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mr Yusuf Ari, on Thursday said that the council was awaiting the decision of its authorities on the recent release of conflicting results.

Candidates and other stakeholders had lodged many complaints to WAEC through telephone calls and electronic mails on the council’s posting of two different May/June 2011 WASSCE results to its Website.

WAEC released the initial WASSCE — West African Senior School Certificate Examination – result on Aug. 10.

As candidates were still searching for their results on the website, WAEC posted a different result of the same examination to the Website.

WAEC later explained that the conflicting results were due to human error traced to some of its members of staff.

In an interview  Ari said that the development had been reported to the appropriate authorities within and outside Nigeria for necessary actions.

Ari said that the authorities had yet to take a decision on the members of staff who made the error.

“ I am not in the position to say anything concerning the  members of staff allegedly involved.

“Critical stakeholders will have to meet over the issue; it is only when this is done that the right person at the appropriate time will make a public pronouncement on the affected staff. ‘’

He said that the council was determined to prevent a repeat of such an error. (NAN)
