Unemployment: Ex-CBN director makes case for graduates

Former Deputy Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Abiodun Sopitan has raised alarm over what he called frightening high rate of graduate’s unemploy-ment in the country.

Sopitan said apart from graduates unemployment, the majority of able-bodied Nigerians have nothing to do for their daily living and lack means to feed their families. He said this poses a serious economic and social danger for the nation, stressing that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

He said this while delivering a lecture at the financial economic empowerment seminar of the Power-Point Entrepreneurship scheme, organised by Premi International Group and supported by Oceanic Bank Plc for 10,000 small and medium scale entrepreneurs.

Mr. Sopitan said the Federal and state governments must rise to the occasion to tackle this unemployment problem headlong by reviving the nation’s moribund industries and economically empower the small and medium scale businessmen.
