MAKURDI- Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, wednesday condemned the recent bombing of the United Nation’s House in Abuja, describing it as dastardly and wicked.

The union also condoled with families of victims of the mayhem as well as other Nigerians and the United Nations.

In a resolution after a one-day meeting of Abuja zone of ASUU at the Benue State University, BSU, Makurdi, it urged the Federal Government to take necessary steps to ensure that the brains behind the bombings were apprehended and brought to justice.

ASUU however, expressed displeasure over the delay in the passage of the bill for the 70 year retirement age for academics in the professorial cadre and called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the issue, so that Nigerian universities can continue to benefit from the experiences of these categories of workers.

It further regretted the inability of government to implement the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement in its totality saying that the agreement stipulated a three yearly re-negotiation but which government had failed to respect

‘’The zone hereby requests ASUU- NEC to urgently meet and take a final decision on government’s failure to fully implement the agreement as stated”,  ASUU added.
