Yenagoa- Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State, Wednesday, swore in 12 new commissioners.
At the swearing in the governor acknowledged that the state had youth problems, which needed careful management.
Those sworn in included Chief Bekes Etifa (Ministry of Youths, Employment and Conflict Resolution), Prof. Tony Asuka (Education), Mr Godknows Powel (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs) and Chief Kuroakegha Francis (Water Resources).
This brings to 21 the number of commissioners in the State Executive Council.
Sylva said: “We all know that Bayelsa State has a youth problem that needs to be carefully managed.’’
He said the administration needed men and women of proven integrity “because its first tenure is gradually winding down.”
He noted that the commissioners were carefully chosen “because Bayelsa people are expecting a lot from them.”
The governor urged the new commissioners to concentrate on the completion of ongoing projects instead of starting new ones.
“Don’t start initiating new projects now because we are in the process of winding down our first tenure; we are in the process of completing the projects we started.
“Except for projects that are very important and urgent, we will do as much as possible not to start new ones,” he said.
