Suspected cultists kill 3 in Bayelsa

Yenagoa – Three persons, among them, an undergraduate, were shot dead, yesterday, at the Kpansia suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, by suspected cultists.

The incident which occurred at one of the relaxation spots in the busy suburb, caused  pandemonium in the neighbourhood.

Sources told Vanguard that the three gunmen, stormed the area in a salon car and marched to their targets before opening fire on them.

Three of their victims reportedly died on the spot while three others sustained serious injuries. Another victim is on danger list at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Yenagoa.
 
Vanguard gathered from security sources that the attack might not be unconnected with the supremacy tussle between two rival cult groups in the capital city.

The assailants were said to have fled the scene in their get-away car, while the remains of the victims were deposited at the FMC morgue.

The State Public Relations Officer, Mr. Eguavoen Emokpae, confirmed the incident, saying  information at his disposal was hazy.

He said the police had commenced investigation into the matter with a view to apprehending the perpetrators of the heinous act.
