Olubadan-in-council clarifies removal of Akala’s aide

BY OLA AJAYI

IBADAN-THE highest traditional council in Ibadanland, Olubadan-in-council has described as total falsehood the claim by an aide to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala that he was stripped of his chieftaincy title because he refused to sign an undertaking to stay away from politics.

A member of the council, Chief Lekan Balogun gave the council’s position in a statement Tuesday.

Mr. Gbade Ishola who served as a Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Akala was stripped of his title when he served the former governor.

Apparently insinuating partisanship in his removal, he alleged that while the council stripped him of his title because of his involvement in politics, other chiefs in the council who equally had political affiliation were left untouched.

But, the council said the aide of the ex-governor was removed because of his alleged insubordination to the council.

It specifically made reference to the alleged insubordination of the former aide to Rashidi Ladoja, the Ekerin Olubadan.

The council said he was being economical with the truth adding that the claims of Ishola could have been ignored, but it deemed it fit to educate the public.
