Asaba- Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr. Mamman Tsafe, said, yesterday, that the four policemen who allegedly got drunk and killed three people at a burial in Akoko village, Kwale, weekend, were on illegal duty.
Mr. Tsafe told Vanguard in Asaba that the affected policemen, a Corporal and three Constables, were facing orderly room trial “and would be made to face the full weight of the law.”
On the death of a 21-year-old youth from Oko-Amakom in Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state, who was allegedly shot dead by a soldier following an argument that ensued over masquerade dance, Tsafe said the state Police Command was on top of the situation.
He said: “I had appealed to the community to remain calm. We are on top of the situation. Already we had written to the Army High Command intimating them of the incident.
“There is a professional way of handling this incident where it involves uniformed personnel. I believe that when they (Army) are through, they will hand him over to us.”
