ELDER Tes Sorae, a chief tain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state who was kidnapped last Sunday by armed men, regained his freedom at the early hours of Friday.
The WAEC head however appealed to candidates, parents and guardians to disregard to the other version of waec results pasted on its website on August 26, 2011 and deal with the one originally pasted on the website on August 10, 2011.
Speaking earlier, the Minister of State, Barr Nyesom Wike directed waec to ensure that the council sends the original and certified result to all the unversities to avoid untold hitches that the other version could cause. The PDP chieftain was abducted after he arrived his residence from church service. His first wife Bridget, his two orderlies and a driver were shot dead by the armed men.
The suspected kidnappers did not make contacts until Wednesday, when they demanded for the sum of N100million as ransom. Sorae, who thanked God for saving his life when the Edo Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu paid him a condolence visit, appealed to governments at all levels to create job opportunities for the youths, just as he hinted that he was setting up a job Creation Foundation with a view to keeping the youths busy.
According to him, “we should do everything possible to create job opportunities to our graduates. The only way we can stop this crime problem, kidnapping is to give jobs to youths and when that is done, 90 per cent of our problem is solved. In my own capacity, I will make sacrifice by setting up a job creation foundation because when only one man is rich and others around him are hungry, there will be no peace in the society”.
Dr Odubu who spoke earlier, recalled that when “we heard about the incident, the Governor waded into the matter immediately and urged all the security agencies in the state to rise up to the occasion. We also charged them to redouble their efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and properties in the state.
“We condole you on the brutality meted to you, where you lost your wife, two orderlies and drive. It is really sad. However, we want to thank God that you came back hale and hearty and we pray that this kind of sad story we don’t experience again” he stated.
