BY GBENG ARIYIBI
ADO-EKITI—The controversy surrounding the location of the Federal University between the two  communities of Ikole and Oye in Ekiti State is not yet over as a  first class  monarch  and Elekole of Ikole Ekiti, Oba Aibade Adewumi Fasiku, has called for the sitting of the administrative  block of the institution in his domain.

Fasiku, who was recently presented with the staff of office by Governor Kayode Fayemi, said his kingdom which comprises 14 communities has the necessary facilities to host the administrative block of the university.

The monarch expressed happiness over the win-win formula adopted by President Goodluck Jonathan in the resolution of the impasse, saying his community had not lost out since the two campuses being proposed for the commencement of the University would be in Oye and Ikole Ekiti.

Oba Fasiku who was spoke yesterday, said it had been the wish of his people that the University be located in the town, saying “Ikole and other towns like Ikere, Ado and Ijero Ekiti were among the four Administrative centres from Ekiti under the then Ondo State, but today, Ikole is the only town without a tertiary institution among these towns and we are not happy about it.

But we still maintain our ground that the Administrative block of the Federal University should be sited in Ikole because we have the facilities to enhance smooth take off of the University”.

“The splitting of Ikole Local Government into four council areas will not in any way affect of our unity. We are all conversant with the history that we belong to Egbeoba kingdom and if the government carves out more councils from this place, we will continue to be together as one.”
