IBB wants security agencies equipped to tackle insecurity

BENIN CITY- Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida has stressed the need for government to always equip security agencies in the country to check insecurity.

Babangida, who was reacting to activities of  Boko Haram sect and kidnappings, stressed the need for all Nigerians to assist security agencies with positive information, adding that the task of protecting the people require the cooperation of all.

The former head of state who spoke to journalists at  Benin Airport, after the funeral of Admiral Augustus Aikhomu at Idumebo-Irrua, Edo State, weekend. said: “We must all accept that security is the general responsibility of everybody. It includes you, me and  security agencies and what we need to do is to continue to support and help them in whatever way we can, so that they can function very well.”

He described the demise of Admiral Aikhomu as a great loss to the nation. He said “his death is not only a sad event to me but also to those who were closely associated with him.”
