By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN—Edo State police Command says it had declared a local chief (names withheld) allegedly involved in the series of kidnap activities in the state, wanted.

The Command told Vanguard that the said chief, recently linked to the alleged kidnap of the son of his rival in the area, had been on the wanted list of the police.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ejiroro Ahwara, said: “We are looking for him to answer some questions relating to cases of kidnap in the state.”

He said the manhunt followed the arrest of some suspected kidnappers who were linked to him and the recovery of arms and ammunition at his palace.

The five arrested suspected kidnappers, who were said to have operated in Police and Army uniforms, were arrested at the palace of the traditional ruler though they denied involvement in the alleged crime.
