BENIN—Labour Party, LP, in Edo State has called on Governor Adams Oshiomhole to convene a town hall meeting for the people of the state to deliberate on the rationale behind placing beautification above the economic survival and welfare of the people of the state.

The party said the people should be given opportunity to point out their priorities rather than outright demolition of houses by the state government.

LP said: “As social democrats, we do not accept that using Major Lawrence Loye (rtd) as a scapegoat will ameliorate the economic hardship and pains the demolition policy of Edo State Government had visited on the people of the state.”

Meanwhile, the party, in a statement by its Publicity secretary, Mr. Isaiah Osifo, said that the State Working Committee of the party had not directed any persons or group to hold any meeting with any of the governorship aspirants in the state, adding that the news of such meeting credited to one Chief Imuse Albert, who is not a member of the party was misleading.
