MAIDUGURI – FOUR people were, Monday night, killed by unknown gunmen in a local drinking joint  in Jajeri area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Eyewitness account revealed that  the bar manager, his  attendant and two other customers were killed in the beer parlour popularly known as “Last Born”.

Vanguard  gathered that some group of unidentified men had before the dreaded attack warned residents to vacate the area vowing to launch an attack in the area.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Simeon Midenda said  two people,  as against the reported four were killed at about 8; 45 pm Monday night, “but the Police has since cordoned off the area with a view of protecting lives and property.

Midenda revealed that the attackers had besieged the joint requesting for money but chose to kill the owner and the bar attendant when their request was turned down. “
