Blast: Group condoles FG, UN

The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity, has said the organisation was opposed to shedding of blood and destruction of property in expressing grievances or attempting to resolve  perceived wrongs.

In a statement by Otunba Francis Meshioye, the Olori Oluwo of the organisation who spoke on the recent bombing of the UN building in Abuja also expressed the sadness over the devastating flood that ravaged Ibadan, the Oyo State capital which killed several persons and destroyed property worth billions of naira.

While condoling President Goodluck Jonathan, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and families of those who lost lives and property in the two ugly incidents, the Olori Oluwo appealed to those involved to use appropriate communication channel and dialogue to resolve issue and grievances, embrace peace and, thereby integrate themselves into the Nigeria project of peace and unity.

On the Ibadan flood disaster, Otunba Meshioye called on the Federal, State and Local Government to make dredging, channelisation and drainage of all water receptors and waterways their immediate priority to prevent the recurrence of such disastrous and undesirable incidence of flooding all over Nigeria.

Also reacting to the two incidents, the Olori  Apena, Otunba Edward Akin George, said it was only prayer that Nigeria needed now, more than ever, stressing that Nigerian stakeholders should pray for divine intervention in Nigeria’s various challenges, especially concerning security of life and properties.
