Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has promised to implement within two weeks, the recommendation of a Judicial Commission of Enquiry that investigated the mayhem between factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers , Oyo State branch in June this year.

He said this after receiving the report of the six-man committee led by the former Acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Olagoke Ige(rtd) at the executive chamber Friday.

Unlike what transpired before, when the union was influenced by the government of the day, he stressed that his government would not involve itself in whatever manner with the union which he described as a pacesetter in every bad thing in the state.

Apart from incessant violent activities by members of the union, Ajimobi also said some of the vehicles of the union which are mostly rickety had been a nuisance on major roads and that his administration would ensure that the ugly trend was checked.

Governor Ajimobi added that since the panel had discovered that money was the major cause of the crises between factions in the union, his government would check it by generating more revenues for the state through the union.

He noted further that his administration was not interested in who becomes the chairman of the union because he was elected by the people of the state.

Earlier, Justice Ige had said that his panel discovered that despite the fact that all the activities of the union had been banned, some members of the union still operate in motor parks to collect dues.

He advised the government to do something about it to dismantle all networks all the networks of extortion put in place by the union so that it would not continue to contravene laws of the land with impunity.

The retired justice said immediately the root of the crises, which is money, was dismantled, there would be nothing to quarrel about.
