35 students bag awards

By EBELE ONUORAH
APAPA- Thirty five students have bagged awards at the first Apapa District Superintendent’s Essay Competition for excellence in essay writing. The competition organised by the Apapa District Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Rev. M. Ogunbola and Mr. Uche Udungwor, was hosted by the church to address the reading culture, which he noted was becoming extinct.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Ogunbola, said the essay competition was initiated as a result of decline in reading culture and passion for leadership development.

“The competition is to encourage our children, give them a sense of belonging and let them know that education remains the best legacy any parent, guardian or institution can bequeath to any child,” he said.

“The award will encourage the younger generation to embrace reading. It will inspire, motivate and reward hard work, which will help prepare them for the challenges of life ahead and spur them to more action, knowing that there are yet more grounds to conquer,” Mr Udungwor said.
