LAGOS—Lagos State Public Works Corporation, LSPWC, is to establish three more asphalt production plants to augment the present one at the corporation’s operational office in Ojodu.
The plants are to be sited in Ikorodu/Epe axis, Badagry and Lagos mainland.
Executive Chairman, LSPWC, Mr. Gbenga Akintola, told newsmen during the monitoring of roads maintenance by the corporation during the Eid-el-Fitri public holidays said it was necessary for the corporation to repair roads during the festive period and at night due to the enormity of road rehabilitation needs in the state.
He noted that the roads maintenance will minimise inconvenience of motorists and commuters as well as enable the agency cover more roads due to low volume of traffic during such periods.
The road maintenance which took place simultaneously in seven locations within the city and Ikorodu includes Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu, Oyewole Road, Mulero,Agege, Oyetayo/Church Street, Bolade-Oshodi, Church Street, Mosan, Alimosho, Baruwa Road, Ipaja and Oba Molaja Road, Ikorodu.
“We have discovered from experience that more roads were maintained during festive periods and at night and areas that was difficult for our maintenance gang to work during the normal work day was repaired with ease,” he said.
Akintola noted that the road maintenance activities of the corporation should be complemented by Lagos residents in order to make roads that had been repaired last long. He appealed to the residents to desist from habits capable of causing damage on Lagos roads and caution against dumping of refuse in drains or roads.
