Taskforce dismisses 150 KAI officers, arrests 25 street traders

LAGOS — THE Lagos  State Government has dismissed 150 officers of Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, from service for involving in corrupt practices. Also, men of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit, yesterday, arrested 25 persons for alleged illegal street trading.

Meanwhile, Governor Babatunde Fashola has reiterated his administration’s commitment to demolish illegal structures on drainage channels, as he urged residents to desist from building houses on canal. He said over 50 inner roads in Lagos metropolis were under construction.

Announcing the dismissal of the officers, KAI Marshal General, Danjuma Maigari, said the unit had sacked 150 officers for involving in corrupt practices, which included illegal arrest, extortion among others.

Also, announcing the ban on street trading and hawking across the metropolis, Chairman, State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences Unit, Mr. Bayo Sulaimon, said 25 traders had been arrested on the Third Mainland Bridge for violating the state environmental law.
