Ogun restates commitment to quality education

ABEOKUTA — OVERNOR Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, has promised to give attention to the educational sector aimed at providing qualitative education to the youths in the state.

The governor gave the pledge in Abeokuta yesterday while addressing delegation of students’ union governments of state owned tertiary institutions.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, Senator Abikunle said his administration had been able to address some of the problems inherited from the immediate past government, especially prompt payment of salaries, allowances and subventions to all the institutions in the state.

According to him, “Education is part of the agenda of the present administration and emphasized that the state government will address the decay in the educational sector in the interest of the students in particular and the state in general.”

While urging the students’ leaders to always avoid confrontational method of agitation on behalf of students, the governor assured them that the administration had designed programmes for youth and students in the state for the growth and development of the state.

He urged them to collaborate with the state government’s efforts aimed at improving the standard of education across the state.
