LAGOS — THE National Vanguard for Democracy and Development, NVDD, has described a statement credited to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, that the nation is gradually sliding into anarchy under an “emerging emperor” as uncalled for and unpatriotic.
NVDD in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Emeka Obinagwu, Thursday, accused ACN of inciting violence and civil disobedience “even when legal option has not been fully exploited.
He said: “We are sad that the party which has always advertised its perceived democratic principles on the rooftops will turn its venoms against our nascent democracy. ACN through that statement predicting Armageddon presents itself as the biggest threat to democracy and the rule of law.
“It is extremely disturbing that ACN should be predicting Armageddon over a case that is already in court.”
Obinagwu noted that with the trend of protests in ACN controlled states, one needs to wonder that this issue has been turned into a political atomic weapon by desperate politicians who believe that their personal political and business interests must always override national interest.
