LAGOS — Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN,  has been urged to  dialogue with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamidi Sanusi over the Islamic banking that is heating the polity.

Archbishop of First World Goodness Mission, Archbishop George Amu, who made the call, yesterday, in a chat with newsmen on his consecration as an Archbishop, said he believes in dialogue, saying, it takes two people to come together for things to work.

He said he had no problem with the way the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, was going about the issue of Islamic banking  for Nigerian to be aware.

He said: “Pastor Oritsejafor is my good friend, if by speaking loud to the public, he can stop them. I support him, but his style is not my style and whatever he says as my president, I support him.”

“But if you discuss, counsel and you are reasonable, things will work out perfectly well. It takes two to tangle. The bible even asked can two work together unless they agree,” he said.

He said,  “The way forward is for that the concept of that Islamic banking will continue but that name will not be there. Do we have to wait for the Supreme Court to intervene. If Central Bank directs  that from this year 2011, we are going to have non interest banking.  If Anna and Ege want to set up non interest banking, Anu and Ege can set up non interest banking instead of heating the polity.”
