In apparent response to the new spirit of the minister of education on entrepreneurship, world leading driving force in the global technology revolution, Intel Corporation last week in collaboration with the Lagos state government and the Rotary club of Ikeja, commissioned a model Intel Teach and 1:1 learning school in Ikeja High School, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

Intel Teach and 1:1 learning school program is a public private partnership initiative of the company aimed at preparing Nigerian students to be technically sound and equipped in skills that will enable them secure jobs easily after they have left the school.

The project was commissioned by Intel’s Vice President and General Manager, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Mr. Christian Morale who was on a working visit to Nigeria.

About 50 Classmate PC computers to the Lagos State government was also donated at the occasion for use in the schools, as part of its engagement with Nigerian government.

The Intel President he was on the strategic visit in Nigeria to further strengthen Intel’s commitment to Nigeria, as a key partner in the emerging market of Africa and further deepen its laudable programs in Nigeria., which started in 1996.

According to him, Intel over the years has been a strong supporter and advocate of ICT in education and this it does through contributions and support of over $100m worldwide every year, Nigeria inclusive.

“Intel is committed to the goal of reaching the next 3billon people worldwide and Nigeria is a critical part of this new thinking,” he affirmed.

He reiterated Intel’s readiness for continued support and to partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education and State governments, and other partners to train teachers on how to integrate technology into the classroom, thereby making teaching and learning much easier and interesting.

“Intel supports both multinational and Nigerian partners in ensuring an all round development and reach of technology in all spheres of life in Nigeria.”
