The first time Ijeoma was spotted on stage was at MTN Project Fame 2008 where she vocally competed with other talented singers across Nigeria and West Africa.
She may not have won the competition but the experience didn’t make her less of a gifted singer. Today, she debuts with “Oloomi” (My Love), a song that speaks volumes of why she was picked for the competition in the first place.
“Oloomi,” as rendered by Ijeoma, written by Harrysong and produced by Del B, is not just a love song. It is a story that will take lovers back to the drawing board. It’s a song that calls for reconciliation and reassurance.
Recalling her experience at Project Fame, Ijeoma said “it was more than a competition for me. It wasn’t just about singing someone’s song and getting judged. It was basically about having your own songs at the end of the day. The experience I got from the show actually helped reduce the height of the ladder to the top”
An English language graduate from Abia State University, Ijeoma Daisy Okwara presently works part-time with a telecommunication company in Lagos but channels the rest of her time to the studio. Challenging as it may seem, she still pulls it off on this debut and many other songs that will be released to the public later.
In her words, “Music gives me joy. It makes me look beyond my challenges.”
