Foreign Affairs Minister charges Ambassadors on FDI drives

By Okechukwu Onunze

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador, Olugbenga Ashiru, has charged Nigerian Ambassadors abroad to aggressively market the country’s investment opportunities, in order to attract foreign direct investment into the country.

“Our Ambassadors are now soldiers in the vision 20:2020 and bringing economic benefits to Nigeria. They will be responsible for ensuring that Nigeria is promoted and marketed as the frontiers and destination of choice of businesses”, he said.

Ashiru, said that these measures are aimed at effectively rebranding and promoting our country image abroad, much the same way the Japanese embassies in the 80‘s and the Chinese diplomatic mission, within the last two decades, were able to effectively reposition their countries as leading global economic and trade players.”
