Top designer Adebayo Jones showcased an exclusive line from his latest collection when top business men, women and other dignitaries gathered in London recently to raise awareness on Down Syndrome amongst the populace, The event which was a fashion and fund-raising event in one, was aimed at reducing cases of down syndrome and raise funds for the activities for Down Syndrome Associations of Nigeria and UK.
The physical features and medical problems associated with down syndrome vary from child to child. While some kids with DS need a lot of medical attention, others lead healthy lives.” She noted that in spite of the challenges in Nigeria and the UK, the associations have made progress in recent years.
Highlight of the day was the stunning fashion showcase by Adebayo Jones Couture and Lyze Hats. At the end of the event, the designers were honoured with Paceworking Awards for their contribution to the Fashion industry.
The Down Syndrome Association of Nigeria was founded in 2001 by Mrs Rose Mordi to help children and adults with down syndrome in Nigeria and has since extended their activities to other West African countries.
Organiser of the event, Ms. Seye Aina of Paceworking and Prince Adesida of the Nigerian High Commission thanked Mrs Rose Mordi for her efforts in helping the down-trodden.
