MAIDUGURI — THE first Nigerian Ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe during the Olusegun Obasanjo Administration, and Deputy gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Borno State in the April 2011 general elections, Amb. Saidu Pindar, died Wednesday  in an auto crash along Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road.

Amb. Pindar, an indigene of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State who was a graduate of Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria died on his way to Kano.

Late Pindar was the Executive Director of Joint Development Administration on Sao Tome & Principe and Nigeria and had a Foundation known as “Pindar Foundation” through which he had sponsored over 3000 Borno indigenes who are studying in various tertiary institutions across the world.

Gov. Kashim Shettima while condoling the family of the deceased through his Director of Press Affairs, Alhaji Usman Chiroma, expressed shock over the unfortunate incident. He described the late Pindar as a man with a vision, humility, de-tribalized and dedicated in the cause of transforming not only Borno, but Nigeria.

He will be buried today according to Islamic rites.
