Enyimba set to consolidate Champions League lead

Enyimba Football Club of Aba will today attempt to consolidate on their leadership of Group A of the African Champions League when the host Raja Casablanca at the Aba Township stadium.

And in Casablanca, the second Moroccan team, goal-hungry Wydad Casablanca are hoping to continue with their scoring form when they host defensively strong Esperance also today in a Group B encounter.
The Moroccans have scored seven goals in their opening two matches in Group B.

They will host the Tunisian side who have conceded only three in six qualifying and group matches.
But Wydad will be counting on strikers Mouhssine Iajour and Congolese Fabrice Ondama to break Esperance’s resolve.

Enyimba – one of only three teams to successfully defend the title since its 1964 inception – and twice runners-up Al Hilal of Sudan have set the Group A pace with four points each.

Both enjoy home advantage  with Enyimba facing goal-shy Raja Casablanca of Morocco in south-eastern city Aba while Al Hilal confront 2008 runners-up Coton Sport Garoua of Cameroon in sauna-like Omdurman.

Uche Kalu could pose the biggest threat to three-time African champions Raja after bagging a brace in Garoua while Cotonsport must contain Zimbabwean Edward Sadomba after he scored three times in two group matches.
