ASABA-THE Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, yesterday, consolidated the separate applications by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and Chief Great Ogboru, and their political parties, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Democratic People’s Party, DPP, respectively.
They had urged the tribunal to subpoena the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to testify in the petition by Ogboru, challenging Uduaghan’s return as winner in the April 26 governorship election.
The tribunal consolidated the separate applications and adjourned pre-hearing session till August 18. The session ought to have ended yesterday.
Parties are expected on the next adjourned date to give a report to the tribunal on the joint inspection of ballot papers and other materials used for the election, which was ordered by the tribunal, last month, as well as how they would present their witnesses.
Before the adjournment, the tribunal had, Wednesday, granted the applications of Governor Uduaghan and PDP to add more witnesses to their witness lists.
