THE remains of business mogul, Rev. Josephine Kuteyi, was, yesterday, committed to mother earth in her country home, Ondo, Ondo State.

Her widower, Chief Kuteyi Waheed and the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, fought back tears as the deceased was lowered to the grave at her Samakinwa country home in Ondo town.

Waheed, clad in white lace, was said to have been separated from his heartthrob for about two decades, but they were re-united, yesterday, by the sad circumstance. The couple had four boys: Saheed, Ganiyu, Ahmed and Rasaq.

Mimiko who wore dark glasses was unable to fight back tears as the corpse of the deceased was wheeled into the Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre, Ondo, at about 10.30am, yesterday, in a gold-colour casket, where the Redeemed Christian Church of God faithful gathered to receive the body at a special farewell service.

The venue of the service which was full to capacity was decorated with blue and white materials said to have been requested for by the deceased relations being her favourite colours.

Chief Kuteyi and the four sons sat together in a row at the civil centre, holding white handkerchiefs which became wet with tears as the ceremony progressed.

The widower later said tearfully that his late wife touched him in many ways, adding that she left many legacies which the children must uphold.

He said: “Dammy was a woman I met at a tender age and she took me as her brother. She touched me in many ways.”

The deceased first son Saheed, 33, said the sudden death of his mother was painful. In his words, “my heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow. What it means to lose you, no one will ever know.

“No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye. You were gone before I knew it and only God knows why.”

His second son Ganiyu, said: “Mummy, I love you and will forever miss you; words cannot express how much I miss you.”

The third son, Ahmed, said: “This is for the woman who gave birth to me, who loved me, raised me, nurtured me, fed me, believed in me, gave me more than a second chance and inspired me.”

The last son, Rasaq, said: “Words cannot express the great void that has been created without you. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your son and to witness all the great and powerful things God did through you that impacted the family and the lives of countless others.”

The Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Johnson Odesola, in his sermon assured that anyone who died in Christ had a legacy and gain in heaven.
