Crescent varsity, New Horizons produce ICT champ

The International Certification-based IT and E-Business Partnership program between Crescent University, Abeokuta and New Horizons, has produced a champion in international certification-based ICT competition.

A student of the University, Miss Zulikhat Ibrahim attained the feat after defeating other contestants from various tertiary institutions in a National Microsoft’s office suites IT Competition to emerge top with a score of 923 out of a total of 1000 in Advance Excel 2007, within a time frame of 17minutes, two seconds.

The National Competition is an annual event which is anchored by Readmanna Ventures Ltd towards establishing the practical soundness of Nigerian youths in Microsoft Business Solutions Suites Skills which are ever in top demand by employers.

Similarly, the University has celebrated professional excellence at the ICT Certificate Presentation Ceremony which took place on the campus recently.

Forty students from various international IT and E-Business Technology Vendors, abroad were presented with different International Certificates in Oracle, EC- Council Project Management, Customer Relationship Management, Multimedia/Web Design and Microsoft office suites

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor KA Okeleye congratulated the certified students and affirmed that the extra qualifications had boosted their future employability and entrepreneurship opportunity.

He expressed satisfaction that the vision of the founding founders of the first Islamic-based University in Nigeria towards grooming future leaders who will combine sound character, academic excellence together with professional competence and consequently become the first choice and toast of employers anywhere in the world has begun to be realized.

In the same vein, the University Registrar, Barrister Ajibola affirmed that the University placed a high priority on impartation of entrepreneurship and modern day professional ICT Skills into its products.
