Charlyboy did not only lampoon and lambast corrupt, inept, military rulers in his 1990 hit album but had advocated for a drastic change using the music medium.
Decked in leather jackets, boots and power bike, Charly Boy gave the growing hip-hop scene and young talented Nigeria artistes a run for their money when he released ‘Ninja Bike’.
The news today is that Charly Boy has dropped a new single titled, ‘Areafada’, which has been getting a decent airplay, for a single that is only a week old.
The single clearly indicates a transition. It is an obvious departure from the prevalent music trend to some more matured traditional African vibes.
The combination of African traditional flavour in the single sends a strong message to his teeming fans that the African value system is rich in content and aesthetically endowed. The ‘Area Fada’ is a strong message to the new generation of Nigerian youths.
The hit track also dwells on his more than 33 years old music career, detailing the ups and downs of the industry.
