When she made her debut in the Nigerian music scene in 2009 she was simply called Awele.
Today, the Nigerian-born UK singer, thinks differently about her name and so has decided to add Rosemary to it. Put together, the lady formerly known as Awele wishes henceforth to be called Rosemary Awele and this is official.
Advancing reason for the change in name, the blues and jazz singer said “back in the UK where I ply my trade as a musician, I’m better known as Rosemary Awele, unfortunately my Nigerian fans who couldnt come to terms with both names simply shortened it to Awele.
Rosemary Awele is my name and that is the name I started with in the UK, but many of my fans in the entertainment world, prefer calling me Awele till the name spread globally. Right now I want to stick to my full names because there is a prophecy behind it”.
A writer with two published works to her credit, The Beauty Inside and The Uplifting Book of Wisdom, Rosemary recently shot three videos, Talk To Me, Don’t Think I’m A Stranger and Babim Oh, from her yet to be titled album. The album is expected to drop soon.
Rosemary Awele was born in Nigeria, but spent many years in the United Kingdom, where she obtained Masters degree in Philosophy at London School of Economics & Science.
