ABEOKUTA – GOVERNOR Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and his predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, have enjoined Muslim faithful in the country to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan and not to return to the ways of life they avoided during the fasting period.
In separate Eid-el- fitri messages, Governor Amosun and former governor Daniel said the teachings of Prophet Mohammed on self restraint, peaceful coexistence, love for fellow citizens and the lessons of Ramadan if imbibed by all would help the country overcome its many problems especially the current security challenges
Amosun said, the lessons of Ramadan “are supposed to guide our future endeavours and bring us closer to the Almighty Allah, especially at this momentous turning point in the history of our nation.”
He urged the people to remember Allah’s injunction by obeying constituted authority, respecting the laws of the land and performing their civic obligations.
“This is the kernel of the message of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, SAW, to the entire world.” He advised Islamic clerics to continue to “deliver sermons which preach peace among all Nigerians.”
