Akala’s PDP faction gets quit notice

BY OLA AJAYI
IBADAN—A major crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faction of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, as the owner of the secretariat the party uses on Queen Elizabeth Road, Ibadan, weekend, served a two- week eviction order on the party to vacate the property.

The owner of the property, Chief Erelu Bolarinwa Adewale, who was an aide of former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, said though she made a huge sacrifice by letting the property to the party, it still went ahead, during the tenure of Alao-Akala, to demolish her building.

According to her, after she served the notice on the party, some members of the party started pleading with her to temper justice with mercy.

While speaking during the exhibition of the works of Ogundipe in honour of a 46-year old Kunle Bolarinwa who died of cancer 10 years ago, she said, at the expiration of the ultimatum, the party would be sent out of the secretariat.

She recalled how her building which was opposite NDLEA office, in Ibadan, was allegedly demolished and sold to a former Governor of Bauchi State.

She alleged that the then Secretary to the State Government, Chief Olayiwola Olakojo led some thugs and policemen to carry out the demolition exercise.

Erelu Bolarinwa wondered why the State Government brazenly disregarded the court order restraining the government or its agents from demolishing the building which she bided for during Ladoja’s administration.

According to her “so many people had intervened in the matter, “During the tenure of Senator Ladoja, I bidded for the house and I paid all the necessary money charged. I got all my papers. But, this administration said I had to re-bid. I did not object, but as a sitting tenant, I should be given some preference. They complained that I bided too low and I promised to buy it at any price. When I started receiving anonymous calls threatening to kill me if I did not vacate the house, I went to the court so that my rights would not be violated anyhow. Till now, the case is in court. I was in my house this morning when the bulldozer marked S. S. Ladsom Limited and a government vehicle, arrived and started demolishing my house. I had to jump over the fence to escape because they had told them to kill me if they met me there. What kind of injustice is this?”

Sobbing, she said, “I have suffered too much for the PDP. All my friends and family members have deserted me because I identified with the party. I am the landlady of the state secretariat of the party. I had to close down my office to allow them use my property. Don’t you think I should, at least, be treated with some courtesy?”
