Airtel appoints Lawanson board member

Airtel Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mr. Kehinde Adebo Lawanson, an Executive Director with First Bank Nigeria Plc, as a member of its Board of Directors in non-executive capacity.

Announcing the appointment, which takes immediate effect, the Chairman of Airtel Nigeria, Oba Otudeko said: “Without a doubt, Lawanson’s knowledge, expertise and vision in investment and business will be invaluable in helping us to define our organization as we strive to achieve recognition as the market leader in the highly competitive Mobile Telecommunications landscape.”

Lawanson has a rich working experience in banking spanning over 20 years with exposure in investment and commercial banking.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Estate management (1981) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance (1985).

He started his banking career in International Merchant Bank (IMB) from where he was seconded to the defunct Intercity Bank Plc as Assistant General Manager (AGM).

He thereafter held several executive positions in various banks before joining First Bank in May 2004 as Deputy General Manager (DGM) in the erstwhile Commercial Banking SBU of the Bank.

A thoroughbred professional, Lawanson has attended various courses and programmes in top rated business schools including Harvard Business School, Oxford Said Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, Manchester Business School, INSEAD and Lagos Business School.

He is also an alumnus of the United Nations University and the World Bank Institute.
