BY VICTORIA OJEME

ABUJA-The Christian Pilgrim Commission, weekend, said 30,000 Nigerian Christians are expected to perform this year’s holy pilgrimage to Israel.

The Commission’s Head of Media, Mr Jide Oshundun, who made this known to Vanguard in Abuja, also disclosed that, 600 medical personnel have been screened to accompany the pilgrims.

He said the expected 30,000 pilgrims to Israel is 10,000 more than last year’s figure which was 20,000.
Oshundun said: “Last year we had about 20,000 pilgrims and our target for this year is about 30,000 and I am sure we are going to achieve that target.

He added that, the Commission has improved on the screening of intending pilgrims to ensure that, only true Christians make the trip, saying that “We don’t just give people form to fill and accept them.  We conduct a screening.  It is at this screening that we decide who will go or not go.
