2012: Duke’s loyalists plot to dislodge Imoke

By Johnbosco Agbakwuru

Calabar – Ahead of the 2012 governorship election in Cross River State,  loyalists of former governor of the state, Mr. Donald Duke are regrouping to challenge  Governor Liyel Imoke in the April contest.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had published the timetable for the election  in five states, starting with Kogi State in December and that of Cross River State next April.

It will be recalled that recently, former member of House of Representatives for Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku state constituency, Chief Paul Adah had said that there was no crack in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state that could put Governor Imoke under pressure.

But investigation revealed that the Nigerian Ambassador to Mali and close associate of former Governor Duke, Chief Sonni Abang is warming up to challenge the incumbent in the April 2012 governorship poll.
