Chairman of Imo FA , Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam has been appointed the vice president of the appeals committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF in a letter to the Imo FA boss stated that he would alongside 11 other members preside over all appeal cases brought before the African soccer governing body. The appeals committee is headed by Cameroon’s Dr. Prosper Abega.

Other members of the appeals committee include Barigye Richard (Uganda), Alimu Bah (Sierra Leone), Melles Kidane (Eritrea) and Mfubusa Bernard (Burundi).

Uchegbulam’s position as  vice president of a CAF committee makes him the nation’s number one man in the African soccer governing body, with Dr Amos Adamu still serving a three year suspension.

The former NFF vice president who expressed joy over the appointment said he will use the position to further contribute his quota to the development of African football.

“It is a fresh challenge which I hope to make good use of to contribute my quota to the development of African football,” Uchegbulam said.
Other Nigerian members of the CAF family include Gen Dominic Oneya, who is a member of the Nations Cup organizing committee,Chief Adegboye Onigbinde (member,

technical committee), Aisha Falode,(Media)Mike Itemuagbor (Marketing),Solomon  Ogba, Alhaji Sanni Toro, Dr Bolaji Ojo-Oba, Sanni Lulu and incumbent NFF president Alhaji Aminu Maigari.
