The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, yesterday, fixed October 22 for elections into the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.

MEMBERS of the House of Representatives, last week, vowed to correct all abnormalities in the recruitment of all Federal Government owned organizations since 1999 till date to check lopsidedness in administrative and political appointments.

Three members of the Joint Military Task Force deployed to Borno to contain the activities of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram were yesterday, injured in a bomb attack by the sect even as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, also yesterday, remanded in custody, one of the police officers who allegedly shot the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Mallam Mohammed Yusuf, in 2009.

The 24 member Kwara State House of Assembly as with the immediate past House is heavily dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which won 22 seats in the last general elections. The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN picked the remaining two seats.

This they have started by institutionalising anti-corruption clubs in secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.

THE Seventh Jigawa State House of Assembly consists of 30 members and 29 of them were elected on the plank of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) won the remaining seat (Hadejia constituency).
