ABEOKUTA— Ogun State government has entered into partnership with some Independent Petroleum Products Marketers, IPMAN, to ensure availability of Kerosene in the state and assist the citizens in sourcing the product at affordable price.
Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Amosun, Mr. Funmi Wakama, said that Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who believed the scarcity and high cost of the product, was against the spirit of his people-oriented aministration, decided to partner IPMAN to bring the price of the commodity to N60 per litre.
The government has already constituted three monitoring groups to ensure that the sale of the product is not abused or hijacked by some unscrupulous elements.
The monitoring groups are headed by the state Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Suraj Adekunbi.
They are to take charge of Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun west senatorial districts respectively.
After visiting some filling stations in Ijebu Ode, Prince Adesegun said the exercise was meant to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
The deputy governor maintained that the state government would continue to liaise with the marketers to ensure availability of the product in the filling stations at N55 per litre.
His team visited Kadex filling station and Model petroleum in ijebu Ode area of the state.
The team led by Mr. Adeoluwa visited Kaab, Surrybee, Rantipe and MRS filling stations all in Abeokuta, where he advised consumers not to purchase more than 10 litres each to create room for others.
Similarly, the team led by Hon. Adekunbi visited Ilaro and Ayetoro areas of the state where designated filling stations were seen dispensing the product to the public at the stipulated price.
