Jonathan ‘ll deliver dividends of democracy – Mark

MAKURDI – Senate President, David Mark has said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the country is in a haste to deliver democracy dividends to Nigerians and assured that the aspirations of the people would be met by the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.

He made this known weekend in Otukpo while playing host to the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, who led a delegation of the paramount rulers, elders and people of Idoma tribe on a thank you visit to him.

Mark noted that government was not unmindful of its responsibilities to Nigerians, stressing that the PDP-led Federal Government would not relent in its quest to bequest lasting legacies to Nigerians.

He said, “We know that Nigerians are in a hurry to reap the dividends of democracy, and we the leaders are equally in a haste to deliver democracy dividends to the people”.

Mark charged the minister to discharge his responsibilities with the fear of God, diligence and all sense of responsibility adding “Nigerians expect much from you as a Minister of the Federal Republic and you cannot afford to fail”.

On the creation of Apa out of the present Benue State, Senator Mark maintained that despite the pessimism of a few, the creation of the new state was feasible assuring that it would happen in his time, “we are gradually getting there”, he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the Minister for Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, commended the Senate President for ensuring stability at the legislative arm of government in the country.

Moro, who recalled the pivotal role Senator Mark played in saving the nation’s democracy from the precipice, described him as a role model for upcoming Nigerian youths.
