Edo North, South ACN leaders on war path

By SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN – CRISIS is  brewing between the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN,  in Edo North and Edo South Senatorial districts of Edo State, following alleged moves by Governor Adams Oshiomhole to appoint somebody from Edo North as Chairman of the state Board of Internal Revenue.

Vanguard learnt that the Edo South leaders felt marginalised by  the number of appointments ceded to Edo North and had concluded plans to press on the governor to cede the chairmanship of the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue to the South for the sake of equity and fair play.

It was learnt that the South leaders were not happy that the juicy appointments were ceded to Edo North and had vowed to resist moves to appoint an Edo North person as Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue.

According to one of the leaders, who craved anonymity, “we had observed that even some juicy positions,  which were manned by Edo South people had been moved to Edo North.

They are claiming that they ceded the Speakership to Edo South but that was based on our total support for the ACN and that should not be an excuse to move all juicy appointments to Edo North.

“We are going to make our position known to the Governor. We are not fighting but we just want to make this appeal for the sake of justice. He is a man of justice and we believe that he will see reason with us. We need the chairmanship of the Board of Internal Revenue, taking it to the North as we are hearing will be an affront on the Benins,” the leader added.
