Enyimba in action
Pepsi, the official beverage sponsor for all Confederation of African Football (CAF) tournaments is putting its weight behind Enyimba Football Club of Aba to win this year’s CAF club championship with the institution of N200,000 prize money for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in every home match of the Aba Elephants.
Pepsi’s package will be a motivation to the players who would be hard pressed to replicate the success of Enyimba F.C on the continent with back-to-back wins of the CAF Champions League in 2003 and 2004.
Commenting on Pepsi’s support to Enyimba Football Club, Aba, Mr. Mazen Al Masri, Marketing Manager, PepsiCo International said: “Pepsi as a youthful brand is happy to be associated with any endeavour that can empower the Nigerian youth to be the best he can be.
That is why we have funded the Pepsi Football Academy which has produced some of Nigeria’s brightest footballers since 1992. We are proud of our achievements in discovering and nurturing young football talents in Nigeria.”
Enyimba F.C takes on Al Hilal of Sudan on Sunday July 17 in Aba in the first Group A match of this year’s CAF Champions League. Other teams in the group include Coton Sport Garoua of Cameroun and Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
