ACN plays down Ladoja’s influence on Ajimobi

BY OLA AJAYI
IBADAN— THE Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Oyo State chapter has played down perceived overriding influence of the former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja over the current administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Vanguard gathered that Senator Ajimobi in order to have majority in the State House of Assembly had sought the cooperation of Ladoja, the leader of the Accord Party in the state.

The Accord Party has seven members out of the 32-member legislative arm of the state while the Action Congress of Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party have 13 and 12 lawmakers respectively.

During the negotiation, it was gathered that Ladoja asked for the position of the Deputy Speaker of the House even though his party is in minority.

It was reported that Senator Ajimobi conceded the position and others to him.

Ladoja was said to declare that he entered into the agreement with the governor and not the ACN as a party.
The former governor was said to have also requested that he would have three commissioners and some local governments which Senator Ajimobi reportedly agreed to honour.

The development was said to have angered the leadership of the ACN  as Ladoja was reportedly asking for more recognition in the administration.

After the Speaker, Mrs. Sunmonu Monsurat, Deputy Speaker had been chosen, the leadership of the ACN was to have moved in to save the situation and free the governor from the alleged stranglehold of the former governor.
